Joshua Mutchnick was born and raised on the Gulf coast of Alabama. After obtaining a Bachelor’s degree at the Culinary Institute of America in New York, Joshua worked in Washington, D.C. for several years before moving to Chicago in order to advance his career in the culinary arts. Joshua worked under some of the best chefs in the country, including José Andrés,, Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto, Bruce Sherman, and Michel Richard, just to name a few. While in Chicago, he worked at multiple Michelin Star and James Beard awarded restaurants, including his most recent job as the chef of the Michelin Starred EL Ideas. Joshua’s philosophy on food is simple. Food and dining should be fun with recognizable flavors, while being exciting enough to make the diner think and feel engaged. With skills heavily rooted in fine dining, multi-course dining, and modern french techniques; Joshua creates dining experiences that are far from the ordinary. From soulful and hearty dishes like skate wing almondine, or seared pork jowl with creamed beet greens, to the whimsical “Bagel & Lox” made with gently cooked salmon, dehydrated cream cheese, and bagel puree, or the playful foie gras torchon with Cap’n Crunch creme anglaise, milk panna cotta, almond sponge cake, and a tart berry gel; Dining with Joshua will be stimulating, soul-satisfying, and memorable. Joshua specializes in small, multi-course dinners. There are options to have custom created passed hor d'oeuvres at a large function as well. Whatever it is, Joshua tries to make it the most memorable event.
