My name is Katrina and I am seeking clients for a personal chef service which I'm planning to begin early June. I currently work at a Waldorf-inspired preschool as the Garden and Kitchen Manager, and prior to that I have worked for over a decade in all types of food service (restaurant, bakery, bar and cafe), as well as an organic vegetable farm. I studied Cultural Anthropology in college wherein a great deal of emphasis was placed on food culture, global food systems, food justice, and sustainability. These are the things I'm passionate about, and my greatest love is cooking and baking. A great deal of my inspiration comes from Michael Pollan and his philosophies, as well as from my own personal journey with food throughout my life. I believe that food is deeply political and deeply spiritual, and I am passionate about preserving our relationship with nature by changing the way we approach food and eating. I believe in bringing our focus back to the local scale, while being ethically and globally minded and informed about how our food choices can have huge impacts on the economic, political, and environmental climates all around the world. I would like to help ensure that busy families have fresh, healthy, homecooked meals made from whole foods as many times per week as possible. I can assist with grocery shopping, prepare meals ahead of time to be baked/reheated at the end of a long work day, and/or prepare a variety of ready-to-eat salads, pastas, hummus, granola, baked goods (scones, biscuits, pies, bread), etc. I can cook and serve dinner to your family, as well as clean up afterwards. I can help you to establish a system for maintaining a well-functioning kitchen, and keep an inventory of supplies to ensure that you are always well stocked and that your resources are being used efficiently. I have experience cooking for people with extensive lists of allergies, including dairy and gluten allergies. I am also quite comfortable with children and animals, and have been told that I have a quite, calm, and commanding presence. My rate is $25 per hour, with a $150 minimum per day. Work days shall not exceed 10 hours. Initial consultations are $35, which I will refund to you if you decide to use my services.
