Olema Farm House is excited to announce we are under new ownership and looking for an Executive Chef to join our team. Our Executive Chef will be responsible for local menu development, special programming menu needs and special event execution. The position will lead food excellence and will ensure that our menu stays local, fresh, and cravable. The position will drive new special programming product development, press efforts and food menu related marketing and awareness. The Executive Chef will provide the vision, direction, and publicity and will be the face of everything in the culinary arena. The Executive Chef must be able to drive culinary excellence while meeting company financial goals. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES: Sets short and long-term special menu strategies and direction, acting as the primary visionary in conjunction with Operations and Programing team to ensure the ongoing development of locally related food Creates feast, special events and programming related menu development Coordinates dinner parties and 'one off' menus related to other programs Works with Marketing and PR to drive local food related press and awareness Acts as the "voice" and "face" for occasional PR needs as needed Works in the market to develop programs and localized media focused chef presence, PR and social media Develops localized and/or regional specials while working with seasonal and/or local products when possible for local offerings on a quarterly basis Works with management/hourly staff to ensure P&L execution Provides feedback to purchasing in order to manage major vendor relationships, pricing and contracts Develops costing and portion control for proposed new items Works closely with purchasing and kitchen operations regarding issues such as shelf-life and food safety Compiles and maintains complete library of all special programming recipes, ingredients, specifications, procedure manuals and food handling/food safety procedures Monitors and reports results of new and test menu items Performs ongoing research (competitors/other restaurants, magazines, books, cooking shows, conventions, etc.) to remain current on food/dining trends, identify new processes and new equipment/utensils in the industry Organizes and conducts ideations, presentations, tastings and prepares pilot tests as necessary for special offerings Works with Marketing, Operations, Finance, and Purchasing regarding critical rollout dates/calendars, costing, tests, and travel/event planning Offers input on kitchen design and equipment package Schedules kitchen activities/events and is responsible for proper accounting associated with these activities Maintains expertise in current food/dining trends, equipment/utensils, foodservice manufacturing and technology through books, magazines, television shows, competitor tastings, trade shows, etc. We are offer competitive compensation, benefits and employee housing.
