Job brief An up-and-coming independent Mexican restaurant is looking for a highly skilled executive chef to help us transition from independent Mexican restaurant to multi-unit DFW operation. We are looking for a creative individual who is proficient in all aspects of food preparation. As executive chef, you will oversee culinary development and execution for the current DFW area locations as well and all future restaurant openings. Responsibilities Plan and direct culinary development activities in accordance with the brand charter Modify existing menu or create new menus/menu items that align with brand charter Estimate food requirements and food/labor costs for new and existing items Identify current and future equipment needs and manage equipment purchases and repairs Recruit and manage kitchen staff Supervise kitchen staff activities Rectify arising problems or complaints Review and recommend revisions to all plate presentations Perform administrative duties Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards Keep time and payroll records Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers Requirements Proven working experience as a head chef Excellent record of kitchen management Ability to spot and resolve problems efficiently Capable of delegating multiple tasks Communication and leadership skills Keep up with cooking trends and best practices Working knowledge of various computer software programs (MS Office, restaurant management software, POS) Multi-unit experience preferred Prior purchasing and vendor management experience Bi-Lingual English/Spanish BS degree in Culinary science or related certificate
