Family Camp at Yosemite is located in the Sierras, about 10 miles west of Yosemite National Park. It is a self-contained summer recreational facility run by the City of San Jos. The camp serves 250 to 300 campers per day. The program is geared for families by providing lodging, meal service, recreational activities and retail operations. For more information visit our website at . Work Schedule: All staff will work six days per week, with one day off per week during June 3 - August 7, 2016. Pay Rate: All staff is paid on a stipend per-diem daily rate, based on the rate for the function of the job and the applicant's experience. Room/Board: Staff is expected to live at camp during June 3 - August 7. All staff will live in cabins with electricity, cots and mattresses. Meals are included. Staff Information: The 2016 summer season begins on June 10 and runs until August 7. Staff training is June 1 through June 9. Some positions will be hired in March and April to prepare for pre-season weekend rental groups, so please get your applications in early. There is 50 staff in camp at any given time and a total of 70 hired throughout the summer. All staff is expected to live at camp while working at camp. All staff will live in cabins with electricity, cots and mattresses. Meals are included. The date and time for interviews and orientation will be announced at a later date. At the time of initial contact all selected candidates will receive information about fingerprinting, proper documents and paperwork required to work at camp. You will receive more information after you have successfully submitted a completed online application (including supplemental questionnaire) depending on availability of open positions and experience level. All staff may be assigned other duties not listed in the description. Duties may overlap into other position descriptions. The following Family Camp positions are temporary, unclassified, and seasonal for summer 2016: June 10 - August 7, 2016: Minimum Qualifications 1. All candidates must meet the MINIMUM AGE OF 18 PRIOR TO APPOINTMENT, and undergo a required background check, including a criminal history records check, and fingerprinting process as well as provide a medical verification of negative tuberculosis test results within the last two years before being considered for a position at camp. 2. Experience: See position and duties section above for specific position requirements. 3. Licenses or Certificates: Some positions may require any of the following; a. A valid CA Driver's License. b. Proof of current CPR and First Aid Certification. c. Proof of current Open Water Lifeguard Red Cross Certification. 4. Employment Eligibility: Federal law requires all employees to provide verification of their eligibility to work in this country. Please be informed that the City of ASSISTANT COOK - (3 Positions) Direct food service worker in serving and cleanup of food service area and kitchen area. Assist in preparation and cooking 700 plus meals per day and other duties as assigned. Requirements: Experience in large cafeteria, restaurant or accredited cooking school. A valid CA Driver's License is desirable. A ServSafe card is required. COOK - (3 Positions) Responsible for planning menu, ordering supplies, scheduling and supervising assistant cooks and food service workers duties. Maintaining records for the kitchen and dining hall. Maintain a healthy, safe and clean cooking/working environment. Responsible for preparing 700 plus meals per day and other duties as assigned. Requirements: At least six (6) months of institutional or restaurant cooking experience or training from an accredited culinary school. A valid Food Handlers Certificate, Proof of current CPR and First Aid Certification along with a valid CA Driver's License is desired.
