A busy executive and mother is hiring a full-time private chef and wellness partner. She believes that the quality of one’s diet has, perhaps, the single greatest effect on health and well-being, but she has no time to shop or cook. She is looking for someone to actively partner with her to figure out and deliver what works best for her family so they eat healthy (and delicious) food for all meals (no more fast food…). The family currently lives in Lake Country. The schedule will vary weekly based on the needs of the family, but the core schedule is expected to be 50 hours per week 9am-6pm Sunday through Thursday. However due to family schedules, entertaining or travel (or the vacation schedules of other staff), the work schedule may vary, and the Family Chef and Wellness Partner is expected to be reasonably available. The position will require working more than 50 hours per week, from time to time. You will report to a Director on the principal’s staff and take direction from the house manager as needed. Responsibilities include: • Menu planning and development, including the design of unique dishes and menus, using invention, imagination and originality—based on health and wellness guidelines determined with the principal • Recipe and wellness research—to find recipes that match the family’s need • Grocery shopping and sourcing food, beverages and supplies • Meal preparation, using fresh and healthy ingredients (including advance preparations for meals made outside working hours). Meals may be different for each family member • Meal service, which will be a mix of informal and formal to be determined by the family’s needs • Maintain highest standards of health and hygiene with food • Manage kitchen operations, with primary responsibility for organizing and cleaning the kitchen(s) and maintaining the kitchen appliances • Ensure pantry and refrigerator are properly stocked in accordance with the family’s schedules • Meal planning and preparation for offsite locations. Work with family to determine how best to provide the desired meals at work and school • Travel meal planning—assist principal in managing meals while traveling, including advance planning for “take-with” foods and restaurant dining • Teach and coach others in household to make or complete meals when the chef is not there • Maintain a family cookbook in electronic and paper format • Assist and coordinate with other household staff and family in whatever needs to be done • Communicate and collaborate with family doctor(s) and trainer about health priorities and how that translates to meal planning, preparation and supplements • Provide hospitality and attend to the needs of visiting guests and family • Plan, set-up and manage dinner parties • Plan, set-up and manage (cook and serve) other entertaining for social, professional and civic events (preparation, guests lists, invitations, decoration, hosting, seating charts, coordinating with caterer (if event is too large to manage alone) and vendors)
