Chef Job in Rochester, New York

Looking for a positive team oriented leader to oversee and participate in the preparation and service of food and beverage items while meeting standards for food quality, service, sanitation, safety and portion control. Able to lead staff, as well as nurture staff development and creativity. Communicates with staff to describe menu preparation, answer questions and resolve issues and operational needs appropriately through the organization. Helps with menu creation, planning and ordering working with Executive Chef and Director of Operations to maintain food cost, quality, and food protection. Able to think both reactively and proactively, while maintaining a positive attitude. Uses approved food recipes and production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures and standard portion control, and menu consistency. Thi includes catered events as well. Assigns duties to associates for efficient operation of the kitchen; ensures timely and efficient meal service to all service areas. Conducts periodic and regular inspections to monitor quality of food preparation, service, cleanliness and sanitation of production and service areas, appearance of equipment and associates; takes appropriate corrective action, and works with kitchen supervisor to delegate areas of improvement. Supervises and participates in the service of food as well as maintaining customer satisfaction. Supervises staff, including training, scheduling, assigning and directing work. Participates in performance management of associates, including appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining associates and resolving concerns. Able to properly order food, process deliveries, and properly rotate product, and to train staff to do so as well. Due to the working chef nature of the job, frequently lifting up to and over 20 pounds as well as being able to be on feet for 10 hours is a guarantee.
