Business Address: 53 Samor Road, Toronto, ON M6A 1J2 Work location: Same as above Type of Employment: Full Time / Permanent Estimated Start Date: As soon as possible Job Description: • Prepare dough for pies, bread, rolls and sweet goods, batters for muffins, cookies, squares, French pastries and cakes and icings and frostings according to recipes or special customer orders (using the company’s proprietary recipes) • Bake mixed dough and batters • Prepare special orders • Assemble, frost and decorate cakes and baked goods • Draw up production schedules • Ensure that the quality of products meets established standards • Inspect kitchen and food service areas • Operate machinery • Clean kitchen and work areas • Requisition or order materials, equipment and supplies • Train staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food • Organize and maintain inventory • Oversee sales and merchandising of baked goods • Prepare products for customers with food allergies or intolerances • Ensure consistency of the product • Prioritize quantities and items to bake based on historic sales and retail sales data to minimize waste • Troubleshoot issues Requirements: -Education: Completion of high school is required -Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience is required. If candidate does not have at least 3 years of experience as baker or pastry cook, then a post-secondary certificate is required. - Having stamina and knowledge of baking temperatures, basic math and counting skills, and experience with baking equipment and food handling is an asset. -Work conditions and physical capabilities: Manual dexterity, Physically demanding, Hand-eye co-ordination, Standing for extended periods, Attention to detail, Fast-paced environment, Work under pressure, Repetitive tasks, Tight deadlines -Personal suitability: Dependability, Judgement, Accurate, Team player, Reliability Salary: $17.25 hourly, 38-40 Hours per week.
