Chef Job in Bend, Oregon

We are a Bend, Oregon – based restaurant looking for a Chef with 5 to 7 year of experience in the restaurant industry coupled with ability to create amazing, interesting, and flavorful vegan, vegetarian, gluten free and meat –lovers’ delights, including smoked meats and BBQ, as well as a robust specials menu featuring local and seasonal ingredients and/or ethnic flare! Our focus is on preparing healthy food in a type 2 kitchen so that there is something for everyone! If hired, your responsibilities will include executing our existing menu, developing new (an modifying existing) recipes, ordering, scheduling, and managing employees, calculating and monitoring food costs, calculating and monitoring BOH labor costs, and other duties. This is a salaried position. In addition, we will offer the option of long-term employment in an enjoyable atmosphere and the opportunity for increased salary over time. Essential skills include • the ability to create and develop new and creative menus; • the desire and ability to take full ownership of the kitchen; • experience smoking meats and veggies ; • experience cooking vegetarian cuisine; • passion for the industry; • creativity, energy, and an outgoing personality ; • excellent written and verbal communication skills; • excellent organizational skills; • professionalism, dependability and self-motivation; • availability to work a flexible schedule that is over 40 hours a week, as well as weekends and holidays; • at least 2 years of prior employment as a Head Chef or Executive Chef, including developing menu items, specials, inventory, ordering, labor cost management etc.; • experience managing other employees; • appreciation of BEER and cooking with BEER; • Culinary degree desired but not required.
