Monique Vermeulen is the Chef and Owner of Black Shallot. A professional chef by trade, she is passionate about food and is an experienced personal chef. While operating Home Gourmet, her previous personal chef service, Monique fed over 80 clients including singles, couples, and families on a regular basis in the Ottawa-Gatineau area. She personally prepared over 16,000 meals, made over 1,000 deliveries, and purchased over $250,000 in groceries to hand-craft the thoughtfully-prepared meals her clients enjoyed for over 6 years. After pursuing other career-goals, Monique and her deliciously-comforting cooking are back - thanks to Black Shallot!
