Chef in Boulder, Colorado

My most recent position was Head Chef at an Alternative High School in the Boulder Valley School District, in Boulder, Colorado. I have had several jobs as a Chef & all have been with an educational piece, which I have enjoyed very much. Being a Chef for 100 teenagers can be daunting at times, but rewarding as well. I am responsible for all aspects of the kitchen: Shopping, Meal/Menu Planning, Re-stocking, Food/Meal Preparation, and Teaching Culinary up to3 times/day. Since, I have been with the school system, I have continued to develop the culinary program and mentor the students. During my stay there, I have rarely repeated my menu or a special dish! I have enjoyed this position very much! When preparing & cooking for this many people; you encounter many different dietary needs/restrictions, likes & dislikes and the pickiest of eaters. In preparing some of these specialized dishes they can become creative; as any other, and sometimes even better in taste. I very much enjoy the challenge of coming up with something new & putting a spin on something old! In this community, you see Vegetarians, Vegans, Pescatarians, Gluten-Free, Egg-free, Soy Free, Nut Free and the list continues. I find this type of cooking challenge most rewarding! Last year, I prepared a completely Vegan Thanksgiving that peaked everyone’s interest and did not disappoint a soul! I very much enjoy food and the pairing of flavors/spices. I have been professionally trained in the various cuisines from around the world! Probably some of my most favorite cuisines to prepare, would include: Thai, Indian & Mediterranean.
