Aventura restaurant in downtown Ann Arbor is seeking a skilled Sous Chef to join our team! Aventura, part of SavCo Hospitality, offers an exciting tapas menu and world-class paella in a beautiful setting. We're looking for an organized, creative, impassioned leader with experience to help us take our kitchen operations and culinary program to the next level, and beyond. With two of the most consistently popular and financially successful restaurants in downtown Ann Arbor, Sava's and Aventura, a third on the way in 2018, and Tavolina, a growing catering and events company, SavCo is deeply committed to creating exceptional food businesses while also creating exceptional teams and systems. RESPONSIBILITIES - Manage and assist in daily production of all menu items. - Oversee a team of line and prep cooks to ensure proper opening, closing and preparation procedures are adhered to. - Train and coach the BOH team. - Work with the Executive Chef to develop and properly execute seasonal menus, weekly specials, and menu items for private dining events. - Create training materials, document recipes, and maintain organizational systems. - Oversee inventory and ordering. Make informed decisions to control food costs. - Perform detailed quality checks each shift to confirm food quality and consistency guidelines are met. - Schedule BOH team members. Monitor hours and labor budget. - Ensure safety, sanitation, and cleanliness standards are upheld and maintained. - Confirm proper labeling, storage (FIFO), and temping methods are followed. REQUIREMENTS - 2 years as a Sous Chef - Excellent culinary skills and techniques - Positive attitude and integrity - Highly organized with strong administrative skills - Sense of urgency and thrives in a fast-paced environment - Strong communication skills (bilingual in Spanish & English a plus!) QUALIFICATIONS - Substantial work experience in a fine dining, professional kitchen - Experience with scheduling, ordering, and inventory - Dedication to quality and excellence - Excellent training and team management skills BENEFITS We offer competitive pay in a dynamic work environment built on teamwork and positive energy.
