My name is Max Decker. I am a Executive chef, I have always had a very sensitive nose and a passion for fine foods. My grandmother raised me for the most part and she was a wonderful cook. Watching her cook and prepare healthy delicious foods for my family inspired me to cook where I quickly discovered that I had the natural talent and intuition of a chef. I was grief stricken when my grandmother passed away from breast cancer. After her passing I grew a lot closer to my grandfather who I frequently prepared food for and who even claimed that by far I prepared the best food that he had ever tasted. Through trial and error I mastered my skills but I was able to refine my skills during my time attending Le Courdon Bleu Culinary Arts in Pasadena. It was there that I was able to experiment with all styles of foods and different methods. In school I wowed my instructors with my passion and methods of preparing my herb infused mashed potatoes and delighted them further with the perfectly paired flavors in my strawberries wild salad. When it comes to cooking I tend to get very creative and have methods that can be very different from my fellow classmates. At Le Courdon Bleu I was regularly recognized by instructors for my passion, confidence, and creativity. After my experiences in Le Courdon Bleu I knew it was time to navigate my journey as a chef. I already had experience in sales and marketing, had experience in owning a business so my goal was then to market my skills in a catering business and to use social media to gain followers and potential clients. This business became profitable but I knew that I wanted to do more. I became executive chef at a lavish country club where I added items to their menu and revised the preparation and presentation of a number of items previously placed on the menu. Although I enjoyed my time as executive chef, I knew that I wanted to leave my mark somewhere that would not only receive more credit and more attention to my skills but something that I could own. Although I am still, and will probably always manage my catering business to close friends, family and the people who I have gained via social media, I do crave more opportunities to demonstrate my skills and enjoy sharing even more of my creations with the public.
