Chef Job in Fort Lauderdale, Florida

KITCHEN ASSISTANT-VEGAN CAFE Essential Duties and Responsibilities (included but not limited to): • Assist chef in the preparation and plating of dishes • Assist in the washing, chopping, peeling, and cooking of fruits and vegetables • Label and store food items according to set standards • Maintain food quality, safety and sanitation standards • Daily laundry of soiled linens and store in designated area • Follow and execute recipes according to chef standards • Assists chef in all aspects of kitchen • Responsible for the cleanliness of floors, counter tops, walls, and standing equipment within the kitchen area • Make sure all food storage pans, cooking and serving utensils and dishes are cleaned and stored in their appropriate areas • Keep all storage spaces tidy and organized • Maintain proper food storage and rotation. F.I.F.O. (first in - first out) • Maintain cleanliness of retail cooler • Assist in inventory of food items (produce and dry goods), containers, linens, dishes, utensils, and other kitchen goods • Assist in stocking new inventory in appropriate areas • Shop for food items to support vegan cooking Great opportunity to further culinary skills under the one on one direction of our chef. Ideal candidate will have an understanding of basic cooking methods and kitchen equipment and proficient knife skills. • Friendly, energetic, able to lift 50 lbs • Able to stand for long periods of time and fluent in English • Full-time 9:00-5:30 Mon-Fri. When scheduled for Special Events, hours will be adjusted accordingly
