Business address: 60 Gates Fish Plant Road, Blandford, NS B0J 1C0 Work Location: Same as above Type of Employment: Full Time – Seasonal / 180-day contract Estimated Start Date: March 1st, 2020 Job Description: • Feed and unload processing machines • Load and unload items from machines, carts, and dollies • Transport raw materials, finished products and packaging materials • Moving pallets of fish and planks to wet room using pallet jacks • Opening cases of fish and placing the fish in tubs to thaw • Placing planks in tubs to be soaked • Moving thawed fish to cutting room using pallet jacks • Moving soaked planks to packaging room using pallet jacks • Feed flattened boxes into forming machines to construct containers • Remove filled containers from conveyors • Manually pack goods into bags and boxes or other containers • Load fish into cutting machine • Transport bins of fish from cutter to packing line • Check products and packaging for basic quality defects • Assist process control and machine operators in performing their duties • Clean machines and immediate work areas • Measure and dump ingredients into hoppers of mixing and grinding machines • Place fish and cedar planks on packing line • Place and/or adjust labels on individual packages • Place packages in boxes • Place boxes on pallets • Move pallets to storage door using pallet jacks • Quality control assurance - inspect product to ensure high quality • Record production data • Food safety/handling skills Requirements: -Education: Not required -Experience: Experience is an asset. We will train -Clean criminal record Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: -Must be able to lift, carry and pack merchandise up to 50-55lbs (23-33kg) -Must adhere to company’s safety requirements, steel-toed rubber boots and appropriate clothing for working in cold and wet conditions. No jewelry or piercings in production facility as these items can get lost -Work in a cold environment, dress in layers -Repetitive tasks -Standing for extended periods -Handling heavy loads -Bending, crouching, kneeling -Physically demanding Salary: $14.56 to $16.00 hourly, 36-47.5 hours per week Benefits: Accommodation provided at a cost. Important Information: Work schedule will start at 7:30 AM and end at 5:30 PM, some days it will end at 5:00 PM (depends on workload). Monday to Friday or Tuesday to Friday (except holidays).
