The Sinton ISD Food Service Department has received a special grant, the Healthy School Meals Initiative (HMI) grant that allows us the opportunity to partner with a chef to help us with the following... 1. Redevelop school meal recipes 2. Conduct student taste testing 3. Conduct cooking demonstrations and taste testing at annual community health fair The focus of this grant is to help our school meet the new proposed school meal pattern which focuses on reducing sodium and sugar in school meals. There is also an emphasis on fresh, local foods and recipes.
