Moved to New York City in 2011. She started her carrier as a writer in Japan in the 90s. She has published several novels and art criticism books in Japan. After moving to NYC with a journalist visa in 2011, she worked as a writer and started cooking because there was no access to easy, comfortable family-style Japanese restaurants around NYC. Chef Kiki Kudo has been involved in the culinary industry for nine years and has experience in both vegan cooking and catering. Her vegan bento jar business, which she started in 2014 and called "Chiso NYC," had been sold at Dimes Deli and the New Museum from 2014–201......, showing that she has a passion for plant-based cooking and promoting healthy eating. Working in catering around NYC would have also given her valuable experience in preparing food for large events and working with diverse clients. Her culinary focus is on healthy cooking, and she incorporates Japanese flavors, colors, and techniques into her dishes. Japanese cuisine is known for its emphasis on fresh, seasonal ingredients, and many traditional Japanese dishes are naturally low in fat and high in nutrients. In Chef Kiki Kudo's cooking, she uses traditional Japanese ingredients such as miso, tofu, seaweed, and various types of mushrooms known for their health benefits. She also uses techniques such as steaming and grilling to prepare her dishes in a healthy and flavorful way. New York- and Japanese-inspired, healthy cooking styles feature fresh, seasonal ingredients and nutrition. Also, she combines ingredients and techniques from different cultures to create new and unique dishes and create new flavors and textures of the different ingredients so that they work well together. Chef Kiki Kudo has a deep understanding of the flavor profiles and cooking techniques of different cuisines being combined. Currently, she lives between rural Connecticut and New York with her husband, who is a musician and creative director.
